MySpace Virus/Worm?

myspacebulletin.jpgI’ve noticed that a few friends on MySpace have been posting bulletins like “she just went live!” These turn out to be links to some dirty, naughty webcam.

I’m pretty sure that my friends aren’t actually doing this themselves. One friend has posted several different ones and then he posted one himself saying that he hadn’t been posting the webcam links, that he must have a virus of something. I’ve been noticing more and more of them lately.

So is there a virus or worm that’s going around spamming MySpace bulletins?

  1. So, yeah, I got owned. An improv troupe posted a bulletin that said something about a hilarious video. I clicked the link, it asked me to login, i go “that’s weird” and then it takes me to a video.

I immediately realized that my account just got phished. The first thing I noticed that the link to the video looked like a regular myspace account URL. It was something like myspace.com/video05. It was made up to look like a myspace “oops you need to log in to do that” page. So my computer automagically filled in the username and password and I reactively hit Submit. I notice the submit briefly loaded a lycos.uk website and then forwarded me to a myspace video.

I didn’t even watch the video I was so pissed. I immediately changed my password and went back to the phishing page and entered vulgar, hateful things into the username and password fields and submitted it.

I then messaged the account that posted the bulletin and told them to change their password.

  2. Anyone else having bother with myspace or is it just my pc?
Last couple of days it seems it wont let me download any song from anywhere.
Anyone having same bother – or anyone how to sort it?

  3. Yes i got one of those too, I changed my password. I think you should send a mass message to all your friends warning them not to try and click those videos or bulletins posted.
